Borgia talks sheriff -- past and present

Retired Huron County Sheriff John Borgia can't help but smile when he hears talk of what to do with the old jail or how the commissioners and current sheriff can't come to some sort of budget compromise.

Lately, there's been discussions about turning the old jail into a parking lot among other things.

Borgia served as sheriff from 1961 to 1985 and lived at the old jail in uptown Norwalk for that entire time.

Norwalk and Huron County should be honoring this man for all his contributions with something permanent. Not just a park or a plaque, but something reflecting his magnitude as a lawman and a public servant. Thank You Sheriff Borgia for Everything.

Why not make it hapitable for the homeless? I think it is ridiculous to tear down such a beautiful building to make room for a parking lot...what a shame.

John Borgia has been a credit to the city and his family.

And the county, whom he served so well. He is and has been well respected. He gave dignity to the office of Sheriff, took pride in himself and gave dignity to those he served. He is still gracious today. He and his lovely wife Audrey have done things for folks that most will never know about, and they did it, not for publicity, or reward of any kind. Just because of who they are. I am very proud to call them friends, and as a recipient of their kindness blessed to have them as such. Kat
