1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar, dark brown best
1 tablespoon flour
1/4 cup dark corn syrup (no substituting)
1 egg, beaten
Combine in a medium sauce pan and slowly stir in one cup of hot water. Cook over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil, stirring constantly. Boil about three minutes.
Cool and pour into a 9-inch unbaked pie shell Topping
1 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
1/4 teaspoon butter
Mix all together until it looks like crumbs. Put on top of pie filling and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes or until the center is done. Enjoy while it's warm but it is just as good cold.
