A local 20-year-old man has died from injuries sustained in a one-vehicle accident that happened Thursday afternoon on Ohio 547 in Huron County's Sherman Township.

Anson C. Hupp, 20, of Bellevue, was driving a 1998 Chevrolet Malibu southwest on Ohio 547 at 5:20 p.m. when the vehicle traveled off the left side of the road and struck an embankment, causing the vehicle to overturn multiple times, said troopers with the Norwalk post of the state Highway Patrol.

Hupp, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle, which came to a rest upright in a field on the south side of the road, troopers said. He suffered incapacitating injuries.

A LifeFlight helicopter flew Hupp from the scene to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo.

Hupp was listed in critical condition in the intensive care unit Friday afternoon, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Friday evening, troopers were informed by the Lucas County Coroner's Office that Hupp had died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

There is no indication of alcohol or drug involvement, and weather conditions were not a factor, troopers said. The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.

Agencies that assisted troopers included LifeFlight, North Central EMS, the Huron River Joint Fire District and Dendinger Bros. Towing.

@ The Answer Person, the young man died and you're trying to be funny? You are one sick twisted prick!

I bet you couldn't come out from behind your computer and say that to one of his brothers!

This is very sad. I just don't get how a car suddenly goes off the road in clear weather, daytime conditions with no alcohol or drug involvement. Had to be some sort of distraction. Is law enforcement looking at his cell phone records? Did a deer jump out at the last second? What can we learn from this and prevent this very sad tragedy from happening again?

Yes everyone jumps to the "cell phone" conclusion in this day and age, but there are also medical conditions, mechanical issues, (as you stated) animals, heck another car could have swerved into the lane and not stopped. Noone knows.

Kottage Kat

Prayers to the family of one taken too soon.

Anson was a hard working young man on his way home from work. He was driving a car that had the spare "donut" tire on the front. A witness stated he believes he heard the sound of a tire popping as he was on the curve. This is probably just a freak accident due to this front tire. He is a member of a very large loving family and they are just devastated with his passing. Please say a prayer for them and remember to hug your loved ones every day.

Car54: Very well written and I not only thank you for that, I will take your excellent advice to heart : " Please say a prayer for them and remember to hug your loved ones every day "

@Wade group- 100% Agree!
@Car54- You have the CORRECT facts, thank you!

And finally, @The Answer Person- You obviously do not have an intelligent bone in your whole skeletal system or any heart for that matter. Put your money where your mouth is and shut it.
