Monroeville village resident Craig Franklin has served the public in various capacities for more than two decades.

Apparently the desire to serve runs in his family.

He's continuing his serving ways and the family's tradition of helping out as the newest member of Monroeville village council.

Franklin, 48, was sworn in during a brief special council meeting Monday, replacing Karen Reer, who has moved to Norwalk. She spent six-and-a-half years on council and had a year and a half left.
