A woman’s body was found Saturday in a shed behind her Maplepark Road residence.

Officers responded to the home at about 5:30 p.m. after the woman’s mother called police and said she was concerned because she had not heard from her daughter in two days.

The responding officer received no response when he knocked on the front door of the residence and proceeded to the back of the house. He passed by an open door to a shed near the rear door and saw what appeared to be a hand protruding from under a pile of blankets in the shed, Stow police said.

Checking further, the officer found the body of a white female under the blankets.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation was notified as well as the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office. An autopsy was to be conducted today.

Police said the victim’s death has been ruled a homicide. They did not release the name of the woman or the manner in which she died.

Authorities are asking anyone with information regarding the homicide call Stow police at (330) 689-5707.
