A rural Delta woman who admitted she tried to shoot her teenage son to death was sentenced Friday to 10 years in prison.

Fulton County Common Pleas Judge James Barber imposed the prison term for Candis Sherman, 57, who pleaded guilty in January to attempted aggravated murder with a firearms specification.

She admitted she shot then-15-year-old Logan Sherman at their home on State Rt. 109 in Fulton County’s Swancreek Township last July 21.

In a statement to the court, Sherman said she had planned to kill her son and herself because she had fallen into depression after her estranged husband died and she was struggling financially.

So did she shoot him? or just try to shoot him? Did he die or is he okay?????

Sounds like she shot him, but she didn't shoot him dead like she planned on.

Did I just say that? That's awful how callus I just sounded. Guess I'm getting numb to the world's craziness. I do hope he's ok physically, hope he'll be able to heal emotionally in time to come also.

These things that call themselves "parents" that kill or try to kill their children deserve the worst punishment available.

Re-read the article. She tried to shoot him to death. She failed to kill him but did shoot him. Therefore, she was charged with aggravated murder.
