The state of Ohio has offered to help villages and cities offset the cost of bridge inspections.
Currently in Norwalk, the city contracts with a consultant to perform bridge inspections at a cost of $14,000 per year.
The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), for a three-year period, will hire an outside firm to conduct these inspections at no charge to the city or village.
City Public Works Director Josh Snyder provided a list of Norwalk bridges and their current ratings for a story about this subject in the Norwalk Reflector.
