A man had to have his arm amputated after being partially ejected from a pickup truck during a head-on collision late Sunday night in Akron.

Beacon Journal news partner WEWS reported the crash occurred at about 11 p.m. on East Waterloo Road near Donzell’s Flower and Garden Center.

Three people were hospitalized after the driver of a Ford F-250 went left of center and the truck hit a Hyundai head-on before rolling over the car.

The driver of the truck had to have his arm amputated but was alert and talking when taken to the hospital. The driver of the car suffered a concussion, the Cleveland television station reported.

Police said the truck and an SUV were following each other from an event and the SUV was towed from the scene but did not collide with another vehicle.

WEWS reported that speed was a factor in the crash and that police are investigating claims the SUV and truck were racing when it occurred.

That has to be one of the most nondescript posts I have ever read. I can't find anything in it that makes any sense.

I feel like I'm playing hopscotch trying to comprehend this writer's narrative.

Don't assume that it's an issue with the narrative. NR (like many papers) takes bits & pieces from other publications to fill their paper. Unfortunately the person who does this often fails to understand the original text & we end up confused. I read a complete article about this accident on - it's clear (after reading more detailed piece) why this article was chosen- NR just failed to capture it- imagine that!

Who won?

The pickup lost by an arm's length.
