Two EHOVE Career Center students have admitted to be involved in a drug transaction.

A 16-year-old New London boy was charged with trafficking in marijuana, possession of marijuana and being an unruly juvenile in connection with an incident Wednesday at EHOVE. A 17-year-old Castalia boy was charged with possession of marijuana and being an unruly juvenile.

A teacher tipped off the EHOVE school resource officer that a student may be selling marijuana to other students about noon Wednesday, according to the report by an Erie County sheriff's deputy.

Detective Robert Rieger said when they interviewed the Castalia boy, officials found two baggies in his front right pants pocket.

School administrators pulled the New London boy out of lunch and he soon admitted he had two bags of marijuana in his pocket. Officials seized the bags and had the teen identify the Castalia student to whom he sold a third bag, the report said.

The Castalia boy then admitted he'd bought marijuana from the other boy and handed over his purchase, the report said.

"As far as I know, they were pretty cooperative. They didn't give them any hassle over it," Rieger said.

The two boys were taken to the Erie County Juvenile Justice Center.

The sheriff's office will be sending the drugs to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation for testing.

Rieger said neither of the boys indicated how long he might have been using marijuana. The detective wasn't sure what discipline the suspects might face through EHOVE, but said he expects there would be a related court hearing on the situation.

EHOVE Superintendent Sharon Mastroianni could not be reached for comment Friday.

Since when does a bag of weed that fits in your front pocket make you a drug trafficker? Sounds like just a couple of potheads to me. Here's an idea......let's charge them with a crime so devastating that they will never get jobs. That'll teach 'em.

Gee Whiz....everybody knows the best pot comes from New London.

The student admitted to SELLING A THRID BAG ....that makes it trafficking. No matter what you think of weed. It is STILL ILLEGAL in the state of Ohio. So until the laws change, get over it. They were arrested. I don't feel bad for them. They made their bed, they can lay in it.

Whatever. A teenager without priors should get intent to sell, or possesion. 17 year old kids are gonna mess up. It doesn't need to be such a damaging charge. Save the trafficking for the next time, MAYBE.
