Huron County Sheriff Dane Howard issued a Level 3 snow emergency at 7 a.m. Saturday.

"We were out checking the roads at 5 a.m. and some roads, such as Baseline, had 3 feet of snow," Howard said.

Howard said Ohio 162 was completely drifted shut until crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation plowed it.

The sheriff said portions of Old State Road had drifts as high as 3 feet.

Also, the intersection of Old State and Boughtonville roads had high drifts.

"You'll drive along sections of the road that seem fine and then you'll come up on a drift that is 3-feet high," Howard said.

"I expect this Level 3 to be in effect for some time," he said. "We're supposed to get more snow and winds are expected to increase."

During a Level, 3, motorsists can be ticketed for being on the roadways.

Only, basically, law enforcement and emergency-medical related vehicles and personnel can be on the roads during a Level 3.

Also, a parking ban for the entire city of Norwalk is in effect until further notice.

Residents are asked to move any vehicles that are parked in the streets to allow city crews to clear the roads.

You cannot be fired for missing work during a Level 3 Emergency

ladydye_5

Yes you can. Ohio is an "at will state". They had an attorney on during the last storm, discussing the same thing. You can be fired, and you can try to take them to court to fight for it back. But you CAN be fired for it.

Whopper2013

tell that to my boss

All taken

Who says you can't be fired? That is not true.

zombiefan1982

my work will still be open because they do not want to lose business.

Driving West to East from Fremont last night should have been Level 3! This is just a "Winter weather advisory"?! This is the weather to close schools, not every time it dips below 40 degrees, or the wind is over ten mph.

Can definitely lose your job for not being their during s level 3... At ford it is an unexcused absence of unless half of the plant calls off and then they will take your points for the missed day away.... But if you don't show and only 30% of the plant calls off it is a unexcused absence.

rickross2

Better to have an unexcused absence than crash your car though.

some people think money mad is more important than their employees lives!God forbid we reschedule a job .People have waited weeks some times months for material to come in before they can get it done ,i guess one more day would ruin their lives!

I drive 30 miles to work each way, I refuse to put myself or my children in danger! If I feel its not safe to drive I wont go! They can fire me, ill get another job:)
