A local man was taken to the hospital after crashing his car on New Year's Day.
Brandon M. Wineborne, 21, of 3245 U.S. 20, Collins, was driving west on U.S. 20 at 8:03 a.m. Wednesday when his vehicle went off the right side, struck an embankment, overturned and came to rest on the left side, said troopers with the state Highway Patrol.
Wineborne suffered minor injuries and was take to Fisher-Titus Medical Center by North Central EMS.
He was charged with failure to control.
In another New Year's Day crash, a Bellevue man managed to remove himself from his vehicle after it slid into a ditch and rolled onto its roof. He was uninjured, troopers said.
A passing snowplow called police after the 1:58 a.m. incident on Kilbourne Street, a mile west of Houges IGA, said Brian Sears, acting chief of the Bellevue Fire Department.
The driver, Stephan Walker, of 146 Kilbourne St., was evaluated by North Central EMS and released.
No fluid was leaking from the vehicle, although the doors were pinned shut and the right rear wheel broken off, Sears said.
