A heroin defendant is being held without bond until her next probation violation hearing.

Sarah J. Schnell, 25, of 69 Harris St., said Monday in Huron County Common Pleas Court there is probable cause she violated the terms of her community control sanctions. Her merits hearings is scheduled for Jan. 27.

Schnell was placed on three years of intensive probation in early July 2011. She was ordered to spend four to six months in a CBCF, fined $250 and ordered to reimburse the Norwalk Police Department $40 to cover the cost of drug testing.

Schnell and her accomplice were arrested Jan. 3, 2011 after a two-week investigation by Detective Sgt. Jim Fulton. He has said the other woman, former Norwalk resident Joellie R. Welch, now 41, was out of prison for about three weeks when police received reports "right away" of her being involved in selling heroin and detectives "were able to get some controlled buys off her." Welch was sentenced to 11 months in prison and forfeited her 1997 Mercury Tracer.

In late May 2011, Schnell pleaded guilty to possession of heroin in exchange for the state dismissing one count of trafficking in heroin.

About Schnell's probation violation case, defense attorney David Longo said it sounds as if prosecutors are considering jail time. Another possibility is Teen Challenge, a year-long, Christian-based substance abuse program for people of all ages with life-controlling addictions.

good lord just send her butt to jail

I agree. As the old saying goes, "If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got." So, CBCF couldn't help her, how is Teen Challenge going to be any different?

If you read the article clearly you would see it helps people "of all ages". Unless you personally know this person keep your negative comments to yourself.

@windy...I gotta say, despite the negativity of the story, that is a great saying, and how pertinent! Your quotes are my new quotes, so I think I will pass this one on! Thanks Windy..
