GREENWICH - Two drivers were charged with failure to maintain assured clear distance in a three-vehicle rear-end collision Monday afternoon on East U.S. 224. Three of four people with injuries went to Fisher-Titus Medical Center.

Shirley A. Fulton, 52, of 3764 E. U.S. 224, Greenwich, slowed to make a left turn when Thelma B. Chapman, 82, of Jeromesville, hit her 1997 Dodge Intrepid in the rear. As that collision was happening, the 1997 Nissan Altima driven by Lloyd E. Ringley, 37, of Ashland, hit the rear of Chapman's 2000 Chevrolet Malibu, said Sgt. Mary Mack of the state Highway Patrol.

Fulton's husband drove her to the hospital with minor injuries. One passenger, Tammy L. Ward, 33, of 108 E. Main St., North Fairfield, also was transported with minor injuries. There was no further information on Fulton's final passenger, 1-year-old Christopher Burley, who lives with Fulton and was taken to Fisher-Titus with possible injuries by his mother. Fulton and Ward were treated and released from the hospital.

Chapman and Ringley were cited. Ringley was not transported from the scene.

Mack said all three vehicles sustained disabling damage. The collision happened about 2:40 p.m. in front of Woodlyn Acres Mobile Home Park, prompting multiple 9-1-1 calls to the Huron County Sheriff's Office.

Once again an old woman was at fault for an accident. God that pi__es me off. GET OFF THE ROAD GRAMMA. At 82 you shouldn't be driving anyway.

excuse me (Anon...

The 37 yr old man was cited as well.

telling it like...

They just went to the hospital for insurance money. Probably about 1,500$ for each of them. Shirley Fulton's husband knows how to milk it. I wont be surprised if they sue the poor old lady for everything.

Was life flight called? The age of one of the victims dictate that life flight should have been called. Come on folks we got to pay for that chopper!! Was that NCEMS or has Greenwich have there own Ambulance?
