Norwalk firefighters responded to a fire in the attic of a two-story Plank Road home this morning.

Capt. Tom Frey said the probable cause was electric.

"I don't know what else it would be up there," he said, referring to the addition to 5236 Plank Road. "It was burning up there before it was detected because it was so well insulated."

The Norwalk Fire Department arrived on scene at 5:38 a.m., seven minutes after the fire was reported. Frey said Milan firefighters arrived beforehand to help get the four occupants out of the home.

"There was light smoke when they got there. There was heavier smoke when we got there," he said.

Frey, in his report, estimates there was $35,000 worth of property damage and $15,000 to the contents. It's unknown if the residents are still living there.
