Local man killed in accident

A Willard man was killed Tuesday morning after being ejected from his bicycle.

Witnesses reported that a semi-truck (tractor-trailer) was operating eastbound on Walton Avenue (U.S. 224) when a bicyclist exited the Blossom Center and struck the rear of the trailer, according to Willard police.

The victim, Roy Kilgore, 67, was ejected from the bicycle. He was transported to Mercy Hospital by Willard EMS.

Kilgore died a short time later as a result of his injuries, police said.

The crash, which occurred at 11:31 a.m., remains under investigation.

Kilgore was a pastor at the Highest Praise Church, a musician and singer.

He was born on May 25, 1946 in Willard, son of the late Elzie and Thelma (Tackett) Kilgore.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sharon Kilgore; five children, Randie Kilgore of Willard, Diane (Mike) Wallrabenstein of Monroeville,Debbie (Rod) Shupp of New London, Roy Kilgore of Wellston and Denise Maynard of Willard; 12 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters, Shirley (Harvey) Puckett of Greewich and Alice (Jerry) Hamons of Delphi; a brother, Danny (Darlene) Kilgore of California; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by five brothers, Raymond, George, Kenneth, Jim and Ted Kilgore; and one sister, Ruth Ann Montgomery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Highest Praise Church, 3409 U.S. 224 East, Willard, where the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Willard.



I was so shocked and saddened to hear this news. I've known Roy and his family practically my whole life and they are a very loving christian family. I know this is a great loss for them. My thoughts and prayers are with them. R.I.P Pastor Roy.

You need to change the head line. Bicyclist hit by semi. Should not be "BY' in it according to the way the article is wrote.


Kind of what I was thinking Benedict , but always when a semis involved it's always worded this way, anyhow my prayers to the family on such a horrific accident
