HIGHWAY PATROL

n The following motorists hit deer Wednesday: Kevin M. Schaffer, 49, of 2351 Ohio 61, on Ohio 61; and Kelly E. Cook, 43, of 4610 Wenz Road, Wakeman, on Court Road.

n No citation was issued Wednesday after April M. Herner, 31, of 81 Townsend Ave., No. 8, hit a silver ladder laying on Ohio 2.

n Joshua J. Raymond, 28, of 31 E. Elm St., was charged with failure to control Wednesday after he went off both sides of Ridge Road. He hit an embankment on the right side, where his car overturned and landed on its left side. North Central EMS transported him to Fisher-Titus Medical Center with minor injuries.

n Brett W. Welfle, 20, of 1343 S. Seminary Road, hit a a deer Thursday on U.S. 20.

n Charles Williams Jr., 51, of Indianapolis, Ind., was charged with failure to follow the rules for driving in marked lanes Thursday after he attempted to make a U-turn on Cleveland Road. He hit a traffic sign, went off the right side of the road and left the scene. He later was stopped by the Norwalk Police Department.

n Justin P. Wooden, 34, of Akron, hit a a deer Friday on U.S. 224.

n David M. Miller, 53, of 1901 Skinner Road, Plymouth, was charged with failure to control Saturday after he attempted to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of Skinner Road and Ohio 61. He slid off the left side of Ohio 61, where his pickup truck overturned on its side down an embankment. Miller was not injured.

n Paul H. Kohl, 69, of Canton, was charged with failure to control Saturday after the collision with the vehicle driven by Velislav I. Stoychev, 28, of Shoreline, Wash., on U.S. 250. Firelands Ambulance transported Kohl and his passenger Gloria Kohl, 70, to Fisher-Titus Medical Center with possible and minor injuries, respectively.

n Melvin Johnson Jr., 40, of Kent, was charged with failure to control Saturday after he went left of center on U.S. 250, went off the left side and hit a ditch, where his sport utility vehicle overturned. He was not injured.

n Jennifer M. Stephens, 17, of 25 Park Ave., Plymouth, was charged with failure to control Saturday after she slid off the right side of Ohio 61 and hit a mailbox.

n Anita J. Thorne, 57, of 2163 Butler Road, Wakeman, was charged with failure to control Saturday after she went off the left side of Ohio 18 and hit a guardrail.

n James H. Hurst, 71, of Castalia, was charged with failure to control Saturday after his car slid sideways on Ohio 269 across the center line and went into a ditch on the left side.

n Jennifer L. Perkins, 29, of 1740 Butler Road, Wakeman, was charged with failure to control Saturday after she went off the right side of Butler Road and hit a ditch.

NORWALK POLICE

n A Chatham Street resident reported damage to two exterior screens during a burglary sometime before Saturday.

n Tiffany Stumpf, 28, whose address was unavailable, turned herself in on a contempt of court warrant Saturday. She was released after posting bond.

n An Olive Street resident reported domestic violence Saturday.

n An East Main Street resident reported the theft of several Christmas presents during a vehicle break-in Saturday.

n Dispatched a raccoon suffering after being hit by a vehicle Saturday on Leisure Lane.

n Dispatched sick raccoons Saturday on Oakwood Drive and Norwood Avenue.

n North Central EMS transported a suicidal male patient Saturday from Sycamore Drive to Fisher-Titus Medical Center.

n Charged an undisclosed motorist with driving with an invalid driver’s license Saturday during a Milan Avenue traffic stop. The officer gave the driver a warning on a defective rear license plate light.

n A Cline Street resident reported being assaulted. The incident remains under investigation.

n A West League Street resident reported the theft of a decorative Santa Claus face from her porch Saturday.

n No citation was issued after an undisclosed female driver backed out of her Cline Street driveway Saturday and hit a female bicyclist, who was not injured.

n A Valley Park Drive resident reported telephone harassment Sunday.

n Richard A. Brought, 42, of 84 N. Foster St., was charged with failure to maintain assured clear distance Saturday after he hit the rear of the slowing vehicle driven by Barbara Spino, 59, of 116 Fairway Circle, on Westwind Drive.

n No citation was issued Saturday after Joshua M. Farr, 30, of 25C Cline St., hit the rear of the vehicle driven by Heath G. Maurer, 35, of Allegan, Mich., at the intersection of West Main Street and Sycamore Drive. Farr slid off the right side and hit a street sign after the collision. Maurer was slowing because of a vehicle in front of him.

n June L. Wolverine, 28, of 103 Jefferson St., Lot 48, was charged with failure to control Saturday after she slid on the snow and ice and hit the front of the vehicle driven by Geraldine L. Baker, 45, of 13 W. Chestnut St., who was stopped at the intersection of Westwind Drive and Whittlesey Avenue.

n Mark L. Resor, 30, of 16 Cortland St., was charged with failure to control Saturday after he couldn’t make a right-hand turn from Whittlesey Avenue onto Westwind Drive because of the icy road. His sport utility vehicle slid into the stopped vehicle driven by Steven A. Slauterbeck, 44, of 67 Chapel Drive.

n Phylicia C. Lowe, 19, of 15 Old State Road, was charged with failure to control Saturday after she hit a parked vehicle on East Main Street.

n Processed a Rose Avenue girl as missing Saturday, but she was found later.

n A Bank Street business employee reported a suspect attempted to pass a counterfeit $10 bill Sunday. Police released the suspect after questioning and confiscated the bill for evidence.

n Dispatched a sick raccoon Sunday in Federal Street.

n A Christie Avenue resident reported the theft of his Toro Powerlite snow blower from his garage Sunday. His next door neighbor later reported some glass on the cab of his 2001 Chevrolet pickup truck was broken and his Mossberg 835 12-gauge shotgun was missing.

n Jonathan Hawkinberry, whose age and address were unavailable, was charged with driving with a suspended license during a traffic stop Sunday at the intersection of East Main and Garden streets. Police had his vehicle towed and seized his license plates as evidence.

n Duane R. Grose, 55, of 1201 Peru Olena Road, was charged with failure to yield from a flashing red traffic signal Sunday in the collision with the vehicle driven by Megan R. Vanwinkle, 30, of 35 Walnut St., at the intersection of Benedict Avenue and Seminary Street.

n Robert M. Smith, 19, of 65 Executive Drive, was charged with failure to maintain assured clear distance in connection with an Executive Drive incident Sunday.

n Courtney G. Scherz, 21, of 38 Garcia Drive, was charged with failure to maintain assured clear distance Sunday after she hit the rear of the stopped vehicle driven by Sandra L. Burras, 43, of 4835 Old State Road, at the intersection of Gallup Avenue and Republic Street.

n Assisted North Central EMS with a patient at 11:27 p.m. Friday at 1 Queen Anne Way. Returned to station at 11:51.

n Found no problems at 12: 30 a.m. Saturday at 36 Glover Ave., where a resident heard a noise in the wall. Returned to station at 12:45.

n Assisted the Huron River Joint Fire District with extinguishing a residential structure fire at 6:13 p.m. Saturday at 59 Monroe St. Returned to station at 8:45.

n Assisted North Central EMS with a patient at 7:43 p.m. Saturday at 31 1/2 Grove Ave. Returned to station at 8.

n Assisted North Central EMS with a patient at 4:55 a.m. Sunday at 520 Milan Ave. Returned to station at 5:05.

n Dispatchers received several 9-1-1 hang-up calls Friday from Ohio 13, Greenwich. Dispatchers suspect a possible telephone problem.

n Dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call Friday from Peru Olena Road. Dispatchers attempted to make several call backs, but there was static, indicating a possible telephone problem.

n A Gregory Road, Willard, business employee reported an attempted entry Friday.

n A Western Reserve High School employee reported an unruly student Friday.

n An Ohio 60, New London, resident reported a littering complaint Friday.

n An East U.S. 20, Wakeman, resident reported suspected identity theft Friday. She received several calls from a business attempting to collect payments on an electric bill where she never lived.

n The Willard Police Department requested a deputy check South Ridge Road, North Fairfield, Friday for a female suspect wanted on a warrant out of a Greenwich theft case.

n The Greenwich Police Department requested assistance with an “irrational male subject” Friday on Main Street, Greenwich.

n An Exchange Road, New London, resident reported a trespassing complaint Friday.

n The state Highway Patrol requested a deputy check Collins Road, Collins, Friday for the owner of a vehicle involved in a rollover accident on Ogan Road, Wakeman.

n The Willard Police Department requested assistance with a possible problem with a patient on Washington Avenue, Willard.

n The Willard Police Department requested a deputy notify a Grace Street, Willard, resident Saturday to have the person call the Willard station.

n The Norwalk Police Department reported a fight at a Townsend Avenue business Saturday.

n The Huron Police Department reported having John C. Burger, 23, of 3152 Omega Road, Greenwich, in custody on a Huron County Common Pleas Court probation violatin warrant Saturday in connection with absconding supervision. He currently is in custody at the Huron County Jail.

n Dispatchers were advised of alarm activations Saturday at: a North U.S. 250 business; Court Road; Ohio 303, Wakeman; and U.S. 224, Plymouth.

n The Vermilion Police Department requested a deputy check Ohio 601 Sunday for a gold Buick stolen from the village. The car wasn’t there.

n An area resident requested a deputy check North Greenfield Road, Willard, Sunday for a person the complainant attempted to contact for two days.

n A Daniels Road, Willard, resident reported a possible overdose Sunday.
