A former Berlin Heights man faces about 30 years in prison on recent sex-related convictions involving three juveniles.

Jeffrey N. Clyde, 39, now of Huron, was convicted of sexual battery, gross sexual imposition, corrupting another with drugs and disseminating material harmful to juveniles. Erie County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Jared Oliver said Clyde had a sexual relationship with a female relative.

"This case started years and years ago in Huron County. The Norwalk Police Department investigated the original complaint," Oliver said. "When it started, she (the victim) was 3 years old. That was when the original rape complaint came in."

Clyde's bench trial before Erie County Common Pleas Judge Tygh Tone started Aug. 26, according to court records. The trial lasted several weeks.

The defendant was convicted Friday. Oliver said Clyde was acquitted of multiple rape charges involving the same girl, but was found guilty of compelling prostitution and attempted pandering obscenity involving minors. The victims were a boy and a girl who were about 16 or 17.

"He asked them to participate in a pornographic film. He offered them money to do so," Oliver said.

The Berlin Heights Police Department investigated one of the rape allegations.

"We assisted the Berlin Heights Police Department. We took over the investigation at their request," Oliver said.

An Erie County grand jury indicted Clyde in late August 2011 on an eight-count indictment, according to court records.

Clyde will be classified a Tier III sex offender, which will require him to register his address for the rest of his life.

After the trial ended, the judge revoked Clyde's bond. That means he will remain in the Erie County Jail until he is sentenced Sept. 20.

Erie County Assistant Prosecutor Jeanne Lippert, who represented the state, couldn't be reached for comment Monday.

You haven't said much. Most of its been taken down. You just keep saying you're not defending him. I never said you were. There may be inaccuracies but unless you share them you just look like a blubbering fool who just keeps repeating yourself and talking in circles. Get a hold of yourself already. This article isn't about other people its about the balding man with the dark circles under his eyes being convicted. Go to the police with your info.

Thank you. You have a great night. Hope to see you in church on Sunday. God bless and blessings to your wonderful family.

So this means we won't be getting a list of these inaccuracies tonight? Dang it.

Godhelpus44857

No sweetie sleep it off. Have sweet dreams.

Godhelpus44857

As for the police.... Already working on that but thanks for the advice.

Scranton Tibbs

Good luck with that. Hope it works out.

Godhelpus44857

Hey didn't want you disappointed and unable to sleep tonight....I did say that the article was slightly inaccurate....this is just really splitting hairs but he was NOT found guilty of GSI. The other inaccuracies I referred to where in comments made by others.

Godhelpus44857

I am sure it will. Everyone pays for the crimes they commit and Jared Oliver seems over enthusiastic to make sure of that.

Yes Beth we are a bunch of white trash hill-billys and druggies and whatever else you want to assume we all are. But we are not preverts who want to have his girlfriends daughter and her boyfriend to make a porno, none of us have ever been linked to any sex crime ( cause we were brought up better than that). So say what you will about us, you'll never see anything like this about The Maynard's in a news article like this. Your brother is a sick man and justice will be served

Okay. I have attempted to read this article numerous times...I say attempted, because once again the Norwalk Reflector has published a very confusing account of what happened. The first line under the headline states that he had a sexual relationship with a relative starting when she was three; however, in reading further, he was acquitted of rape charges. So if he was acquitted, why does the story say he had sex with a 3 year old?

TO GOD HELP US: Just a favor of you say what you want, freedom of speech is your right, just watch slander I AM NOT a maynard but my children are and I dont appreiate what you are saying about their last name. NOT ALL OF THE MAYNARDS are DRUG ADDICTS I assure you of that. I have known the family since I was little and yes I will be the first one to say they are far from perfect.... but I suggest you clean up your own familys dirty laundry before you try pulling out other peoples. And do keep in mind there are more than just the norwalk maynards and their are children that are inosent in all this. I dont give a crap who did what or what they didnt do Every child deserves better than this.

*JUST SO YOU KNOW I HACKED MY MANS ACCOUNT*

Godhelpus44857

At what point "Miss I hacked my man's account" did I slander anyone? You got on here and confirmed what I said. Give me the list of Maynard's that are not on drugs or do not have criminal records, that list would be shorter. At Is it just me.... You did not read the article wrong, he was found NOT Guilty on anything to do with the relative and he was Not convicted of GSI as Cary Asbury reported. The only reason this article was written the way it was, was to get people to read it if it was written without all the sensationalism no one would have found it interesting. The correct version would have read something like man 39 was convicted on 5 counts in connection with 2 teenagers that hung out at his home with their parents present and all adults made poor choices in an attempt to try to be friends with the punks instead of parents, furthermore the man was convicted on he said she said with no real evidence of anything more than folks trying to CTOA so they didn't get arrested for their own poor choices. I wonder if the journalist that wrote this article will write an article vindicating this man when he finally proves his innocence? I doubt it that wouldn't be news worthy. A bench trial is hardly the last step in this case. Would it interest any of you to know this man was offered a plea bargain that would have given no jail time and he refused it knowing what he was facing because he thought the truth would save him? Don't assume an article in this paper is like the bible and is factual or gives a fair accounting of the whole story.

Bottom line Beth.... Your brother is a pervert!!!! keep trying to say he's not guilty and all that, but if u ever hung out with him after he was drinking all day (witch was EVERYDAY) you would know the truth about his perverted ways. and the teenagers envolved are exactly that.. TEENAGERS!!!!! not adults trying to make porno's of them, still kids!!! so like i said before, say what u will about us... its the truth and we are not ashamed for what we've done because our crimes wont affect anyones lives for the rest of their lives like Jeff did. Have a nice day :)

Godhelpus44857

Jeremy I could careless what you call Jeff. Judging by the caliber of person the insults are coming from it really doesn't affect me or my family one way or the other. My reason for the response to you was your statement " all of our crimes are victimless" really?! So the people you wrote bad checks to and them would only pay them after you were forced to pay them by a judge, were not victims of a crime you committed?!
