MILAN Mayor Robert Bickley said Friday the village of Milan will fix the erosion on U.S. 250 and worry about who will cover the costs later.

"We'd like to go ahead and get the thing fixed," Bickley said. "It's got to get fixed before winter weather sets in."

He said the village can spend up to $25,000 without putting the project out to bid as an emergency measure. ODOT estimated that repairing the road would cost $100,000, but Bickley said the fix would probably be less than $25,000. "We asked for documentation on how they arrived at that figure," Bickley said. "Sometimes they over-design things."

Bickley said the Huron County Engineer's office will assist with the repair.

If this get's fixed for less than $25K where ODOT said it was going to be $100K then Mayor Bickley should be running ODOT.

Good work Mayor, you finally did what you were suppose to in the first place. Now you can hired some non union shoddy contractor to patch it with bubble gum and chicken wire. Hope ODOT keeps a good eye on it.

Land of Lazy......

Bman...you got it wrong non union would get the job done right....union would drag it on and on....dot would have ten people on site and half would be watching...YOUR UNIONS are f**king this country everyday....Mark my words BUDDY.........

I agree!! Look at the tax dollars wasted by Milan fighting over something that knew they had to fix. Nice try Mr. Mayor. Now get it done.

What tax money ...

The mayor is salary. He get's paid no matter what he's doing. Whether he's fighting ODOT or he's walking around the square. I am glad he's trying to save some tax money for once instead of ODOT who estimates $100k so that some contractors can come in with their fingers up their butts and not do the job right.

The big picture...

People talk about ODOT wasting tax dollars. When any complaint is made to ODOT our tax dollars are used to resolve the problem. The Mayor wasted ODOT's time and your money when he looked at them like a cash cow. ODOT paid a party of people to save some of your money through the state on this problem. The Village of Milan has agreed to maintain that section of SR 250. They cannot pick and choose what they want to do and not do. Maybe Milan should of not built a new police station that I hear is over budget and not complete and most likely built by a non-union company.

Dude, union labor will always be inferior and more expensive. That's why they have to have a union. The only people that will argue with that are union dudes.

Seems to me that miner is much more intelligent than you. He/She at least knows how to spell. It sure looks like you "kneed" (it's actually "need") to spend some more time in school (or in your case, "skule").

Oh you must mean you are grateful for Mayor Bickley spending Huron County taxpayer money instead of the Village of Milan taxpayer money. Looks like his plan worked. If he was smart enough he would of know the federal government has grants for Villages that are in need for repairs that they cannot afford. All he had to do was apply!!! How long has he been Mayor????? He should know these things!!!!

i might be mistaken, but you said that milan was in Huron county... but the last i knew , it was in Erie county !!!
