State Fire Marshal’s investigators were at the address of a fire that raged at early Thursday at a Broad Street, Willard house, but authorities are releasing few details.
Willard Fire & Rescue Chief Joe Reiderman said the his department was called a little before midnight. The cause is undetermined and nobody was injured, the chief said. He added nobody was home at the time of the fire.
He was asked where in the home the fire started.
“I’m not going to get into any of that until we get the investigation complete,” he said.
He said he didn’t have an estimate of monetary damage.
When asked about a possible cause, Reiderman said “no comment....I just want to make sure we get all our ducks in a row” before commenting about details.”
Stephanie Sharlow, spokeswoman for the Ohio State Fire Marshal’s Office, said investigators from that office were on scene as of about 3:40 p.m. Friday. She said she didn’t have any more details.
According to a Huron County Sheriff’s Office report, the Willard Police Department requested assistance from deputies at 5:09 p.m. Thursday regarding the fire.
Above the location address on the report, the words “WFD/Arson” appear.
