The accident occurred early Monday afternoon it the intersection of Gallup Avenue and Republic Street. Cook said he didn’t have details as to what happened or who is at fault; the matter was under investigation Monday.

Cook, who was on scene directing traffic, called the two-vehicle accident “pretty serious,” involving a red-light violation. One of the victims had to be extricated with the Jaws of Life from a white van.

After the victims were taken for treatment, the van lay on its right side as rescue firefighters and police swept glass from the scene. A tow truck from Kasper’s was poised to haul that vehicle away. A fire truck was also on scene.

Lt. Jamie Starcher of the Norwalk Fire Department said two ambulances took the accident victims to Fisher-Titus Medical Center.

More details will be published when they become available.
