A Norwalk man is scheduled to go to trial Sept. 26 in connection with threatening a confidential informant and a Willard police officer.

Hector J. Benavides, 25, of 64 Key Drive, is charged with one count each of intimidation of a witness and intimidation. The third-degree felonies are in connection with respective incidents on May 3 and 4. If convicted of each charge, he faces nine months to three years in prison.

The suspected May 3 incident happened at a Willard tavern.

"He threatened (to harm) an informant who made a drug deal," Huron County Prosecutor Russell Leffler said earlier.

"The informant contacted the Willard police. They sent detectives to find out what happened," Leffler said.

The May 4 charge is in connection with Benavides reportedly threatening Willard Police Sgt. Adam Strong. Authorities said Huron County Sheriff's Sgt. Todd Corbin arrived after the suspected confrontation.

"(Benavides) had some choice words for some people. I don't know how much (of that) courage was alcohol-related," Leffler said.

Benavides, who was arrested May 3, was released May 15 after posting a $20,000 bond at the Huron County Jail. He is prohibited from having any contact or association with Strong or the informant.

Hey Hector you don't wanna try Corbin. You'll get owned.

I am hoping someone owns him. He really needs a swift kick in the a** . He is a big bully coward, s**t talker, woman beater and a non supportive breeder of kids. I hope he gets what he deserves in jail. KARMA should make her appearance.

I completely agree with you itssad1...He needs to rot in that jail!!!!!

I highly doubt alcohol had anything to do with it he runs is mouth sober.

like I said before.. a 9mm would take care of it.. no one would care cause hes just a worthless waste of life.

Life sounds like it's worth a peso in Willard.
