A New London man accused of fracturing a man's jaw has turned down a plea deal.
Nicholas A. Kidd, 25, of 1546 S. U.S. 250, New London, will go to trial today in Huron County Common Pleas Court.
Kidd is charged with felonious assault in connection with a Sept. 24 incident. If convicted of the second-degree felony, he faces two to eight years in prison.
Huron County Prosecutor Russell Leffler declined to disclose the proposed plea deal during Monday's pre-trial hearing.
"We talked about it. We're ready to go to trial," he said.
Huron County Public Defender David Longo said the prosecutor had offered to have the second-degree felony dropped to a misdemeanor.
The New London Police Department investigated the case.
Leffler has said the male victim, who is in his mid-20s, sustained a jaw fracture, which sent him to Fisher-Titus Medical Center. The victim was in the court room for Monday's brief hearing.
Judge Jim Conway said the jurors are supposed to view the suspected crime scene "the first thing Wednesday morning."
Jury selection started this afternoon.
