NEW LONDON Village council met Monday night and discussed several topics, including consultant Charlie Bowman reporting on suggestions for both an economic development and downtown improvement plan.

In other business at the meeting, council:

Learned the Huron County Economic Development Council annual meeting is Jan. 11 in the Hileman Building at the Recreation Park.

Asked the solicitor to prepare an ordinance giving Marett Insurance the village's property and liability business for $38,000 a year.

Learned both parks will close for the season in the next 10 days.

Voted to contract with G & O Paving from Nova to resurface Short Sherman Street and parts of Birch Park Drive and Kelly Avenue, as well as the village hall parking lot at a cost of $21,000.
