Humane Society events this weekend

If you feed your pet Purina Brand products, you have the chance to save up to $4 and help the Huron County Humane Society at the same time.

The local society has partnered with Purina and Give-A-Bowl. The latter is a Purina Pets for People program that helps support animal welfare organizations throughout the U.S.

People can download their money-saving coupon atwww.giveabowl.com for any Purina Brand Product. Purina, in turn, will donate $1 worth of its brand pet food coupons to any participating animal welfare organization the shopper designates.

"Now everyone in the world can help the animals of the Huron County Humane Society," shelter manager Ken Stewart said. "This is just another way we assist the people of Huron County and it also helps us take care of the unwanted, neglected and abused animals in Huron County."

Also, every Tuesday, the Huron County Humane Society hosts bingo at the Huron County Fairgrounds Expo Building. Doors open at 5 p.m. and regular bingo starts at 6:30.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, the Humane Society and Wal-Mart will have pet safety and promotional items available outside Wal-Mart.

From noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, the Huron County Humane Society will host the last Mingle with Our Mutts at the Huron Boat Basin. Each pet adopted from the Humane Society that day will receive a special Rally to Rescue collar.
