Auxiliary book sale

The Fisher-Titus Medical Center Auxiliary will have its annual book fair from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Friday in the Ghrist Room (across from the gift shop) in the patient pavilion located off Fisher-Titus Parkway, Norwalk.

Hundreds of new books and gifts will be available at discounted prices. Cash, check and credit cards will be accepted. Proceeds will benefit the FTMC Auxiliary.

Heartsaver CPR

Fisher-Titus Medical Center is offering Heartsaver CPR training from 6 to 10 p.m. today at the hospital, 272 Benedict Ave., Norwalk.

Participants will learn CPR, breathing, resuscitation techniques, and choking response techniques. To register or for more information call FTMC at (419) 660-2646.

Blood pressure screenings

Fisher-Titus Medical Center nurses will offer blood pressure screenings to the public in October at various locations throughout local communities.

Times and locations include:

* From 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 12 at Milan Public Library, 19 E. Church St., Milan.

* From 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 12 at Bennett Pointe Senior Apartment Homes, 11 Bennett Lane (off Stower Lane), Norwalk.

* From 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 17 at Gardner's SuperValu, 117 Whittlesey Ave., Norwalk.

* From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 18 at Schild's IGA, 171 Milan Ave., Norwalk.

* From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 25 at Apples, 205 Milan Ave., Norwalk.

* From 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. (closed noon to 1 p.m.) Monday-Friday at Fisher-Titus Specialty Services, 111 E. Main St., New London.

PrimeCare Advantage lunch

"Focus on Vascular Disease" will be the program for the PrimeCare Advantage luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at The Carriage House of Fisher-Titus Medical Center, Garden Level. Cardiovascular Surgeon Dr. Barry Zadeh will discuss symptoms of vascular disease.

Cost of the lunch is $3 and guests are welcome. Reservations are required.

PrimeCare Advantage is a program for individuals 55 and older. Anyone interested in becoming a member can call the hospital at (419) 668-8101, ext. 6336 and a membership application will be mailed to you.

CPR re-certification

Fisher-Titus Medical Center will offer a Healthcare Provider CPR re-certification training class from 1-3:30 p.m. Oct. 12 at the hospital, 272 Benedict Ave., Norwalk. The cost is $15.

Flu shots in Milan Oct. 21

MILAN - Firelands Regional Medical Center is offering flu shots from 8 to 11 a.m. Oct. 21 at St. Anthony's Church fellowship hall, 130 S. Center St., Milan. Firelands Regional Medical Center staff will inoculate you against the flu "bug" for $20. The cost is covered for Medicare patients who show their insurance card. Pneumovax (pneumonia) vaccines will also be offered for $30 and are covered for Medicare patients (Subject to vaccine availability).

Fisher-Titus Medical Center hosts the following support programs, all of which are free and open to the general public:

The Diabetes Support Group will meet at 6 p.m. Oct. 24. Irene Kraegel, PsyD, will give a presentation on depression and anxiety. For more information call the hospital at (419) 660-2596.

Cancer support at FRMC

SANDUSKY - The next meeting of the Journeys Cancer Support Group will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 15 in The Cancer Center, Firelands Regional Medical Center, Professional Center I; 701 Tyler Street, Sandusky.

Journeys Cancer Support Group is for individuals facing cancer, family members, friends and caregivers. The support group provides a time to share experiences, challenges, concerns and hope. It is also a time to talk, listen and learn from others who are going through similar experiences.

Journeys Cancer Support Group meets twice a month on the first Monday of the month at noon and the third Monday of the month at 7 p.m. For more information or to make a reservation, call (419) 557-6959. Individualized appointments can be scheduled.
