Register to vote by Oct. 9

The Huron County Board of Elections is reminding citizens of Huron County that they must register to vote or change their name or address by Oct. 9 in order to be eligible to vote in the Nov. 6 General Election and the Special Primary Election for the vacant 5th Congressional District Seal to be held on Nov. 6. You are qualified to register to vote in Ohio if you meet all of the following requirements:

The Huron County Board of Elections is reminding citizens of Huron County that they must register to vote or change their name or address by Oct. 9 in order to be eligible to vote in the Nov. 6 General Election and the Special Primary Election for the vacant 5th Congressional District Seal to be held on Nov. 6.

You are qualified to register to vote in Ohio if you meet all of the following requirements:

1. You are a citizen of the United States.

2. You are 18 years old, or will be on or before the day of the election.

3. You will be a resident of Ohio at least 30 days before the election you wish to vote in.

4. You are not in prison for a felony conviction.

5. You have not been declared incompetent for voting purposes by a probate court.

6. You have not been permanently disfranchised for violations of the election laws.

The Board office, located at 180 Milan Ave., in Norwalk, is open 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. In addition, the office will be open until 9 p.m. Oct. 9.

Voter registration forms are also available at the Norwalk License Bureau, Willard License Bureau, Huron County Treasurer's office, Job and Family Services, and local libraries.
