A Norwalk dad is behind bars after allegedly driving drunk and wrecking the car in which his 3-year-old son was a passenger.
At 11:40 p.m. Friday, Milan police officers were called to the scene of a crash on Ohio 113 East at the village limits, Police Chief James Rose said.
A westbound car had traveled off the right side of the road down into a ravine, Rose said.
Andrew J. Vandersommen, 32, of 14 Ontario St., and his 3-year-old son were examined at the scene by North Central EMS personnel and no injuries were reported, police said.
Vandersommen was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, driving under suspension, failure to control and child endangering, police said.
He was taken to the Erie County Jail, where he remained as of this morning. A hearing is scheduled for today in Erie County Municipal Court.
