VIDEO: Fatal crash closes Ohio 61

Traffic accident at intersection claims life of local man.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Norwalk Post is investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred at 1:30 p.m. today at the intersection of Ohio 61 and Ohio 103 in New Haven Township, east of Willard.

George Latteman, 77, of Monroeville, was killed in the crash. He was a passenger in a 2005 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck that was driven by Lee Myers, 63, of Monroeville.

Latteman was not wearing a seatbelt, troopers said.

The other driver was Christopher Sloan, 58, of Willard. He was driving a 1999 Ford E-250 Econoline van east on Ohio 103 when he failed to stop at the stop sign for Ohio 61 and collided with the northbound pickup, troopers said.

The two drivers had been wearing seatbelts and received minor injuries. Both vehicles were towed. No charges have been filed.

Emergency crews were on the scene for several hours after the crash. The road was re-opened by 4:20 p.m.
