Opera theater auditions on tap

MANSFIELD - Auditions for Richland Academy's Children's Opera Theatre will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Sept. 15 for 7- to 12-year-olds and 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. for those 13 and older. Come prepared with a monologue or song. The 16-week class will lead up to a January production of "Fiddler on the Roof" and "The Fire Maid." The younger cast will perform the latter as a prologue to "Fiddler on the Roof."

MANSFIELD - Auditions for Richland Academy's Children's Opera Theatre will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Sept. 15 for 7- to 12-year-olds and 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. for those 13 and older. Come prepared with a monologue or song.

The 16-week class will lead up to a January production of "Fiddler on the Roof" and "The Fire Maid." The younger cast will perform the latter as a prologue to "Fiddler on the Roof."

In sessions leading up to the production, students will learn classical repertoire and stage etiquette, as well as ensemble techniques and acting skills.

The cost is $50, and a $10 material fee. Payment is due upon acceptance of role. Financial aid is available to those who qualify.

The class will take place from 11 a.m. to noon for 7- to 12-year-olds and 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. for those 13 and older every Saturday at the Richland Academy, 75 N. Walnut St., Mansfield.

Classes begin Sept. 22.
