Big splash for Maritime Heritage planned

SANDUSKY - The Sandusky Maritime Museum is presenting its third Big Splash Raffle at the Sandusky Bay Pavilion Saturday.

Proceeds will benefit the downtown Sandusky museum's on-going educational exhibits and programs.

Raffle ticket winnings include $225,000 in cash and prizes. Raffle tickets are still available for $100 each or 10 for $1,000 with the 11th ticket free. They are being sold at the museum, Lyman Harbor, Businet Wireless, Scarlett O'Hairs and the Visitors Bureau; all in Sandusky, plus Artino Ford; Huron, Hunters Needs; Bellevue, Roeder Harley-Davidson in Sandusky and Monroeville and Enzo's Detailing and Cleaning Solutions in Huron.

Big Splash Raffle events kick-off Friday at the Sandusky Bay Pavilion (formerly Surf's Up), beginning with ticket sales at 5 p.m. as musical entertainment at 6 by Echo Forte.

Food and beverage vendors will be offering tasty treats, plus beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages.

Raffle tickets will be on sale throughout the Friday night event, and special side raffles will be available, with giveaways such as Ohio State and Dale Earnhardt baskets, 50/50(s), drawings and raffle tickets.

Saturday's events begin with ticket sales at 9 a.m., with the gates opening at 11 a.m. at the Pavilion.

No Big Splash Raffle tickets will be sold after 11 a.m., but side raffles will continue throughout the day. Raffle prizes given out Saturday include a 2007 Ford F-150 truck, 2007 Ford Mustang, three Harley-Davidsons (Fat Boy, Electra Glide and Street Bob), plus gift certificates, continued cash prizes (ranging from $1,000 to $50,000), guns and more.

Vendors will be serving perch, ribs, pizza, sandwiches and more. Prizes will be drawn beginning at 1 p.m. and every five minutes through 5 p.m. Winners do not need to be present to win.
