Mayor Rob Duncan stunned Norwalk city council members Tuesday night with the news that Fire Chief Shawn Dickerson will retire by the end of June.

Dickerson has been chief for less than two years.

"Working with Chief Dickerson has been a wonderful experience," the mayor said. "He is a very bright young man and has done an excellent job."

Retire? Just how much is he paid?!

Now The Rest of...

Winnie? lol! Sure.

@44846GWP : Apparently, " Winnie " has pulled an Elvis and left the building. 2 months ago or so I saw in the paper, his recently deceased father's property being transferred to him. I wondered then, if he would leave as he said he would. Looks like the answer is " yes " ( and don't you miss him ? :)

@ CC:

FYI: Wasn't me, haven't left and VERY BUSY with little time for local yammering sessions.

BTW: As a "truism," when an official states that they left for "family reasons," that is seldom, if ever, the REAL reason.

Cliff Cannon

@ Contango: So you haven't become the " Nacogdoches kid " ? Good. " Sources " had you gone. Here's hoping, what's kept you " VERY BUSY " is not to serious

Contango

@ CC:

OTOH, I tend to enjoy my "yammerings" with you. :)

Nope - "good" busy (so far). But I appreciate your concern.

"Sources"?

As the grizzled old newspaper editor said to the young cub reporter:

IF your mother says that she loves you - check it out.

Also: Nature abhors a vacuum (obviously).

Not-to-worry; God willin' and the creek don't rise, I ain't "leavin'" until I buy you that cupa coffee.

Later.

Cliff Cannon

@ Contango : I have long been convinced you were a very close friend of my late brother-in-law who drowned.

So when you fell from the radar 3 weeks ago. I started asking around about you. And " sources " is the best word I could choose for the people I questioned about your whereabouts. Didn't mean to scare you

Wow....someone else who has decided to abandon the ship...why is that so stunning? Good Luck to you Mr. Dickerson, may your next chapter be a great one!

THED0N

Why are you stepping down? You didn't hire the guy for the water department!

Shorty22

Why does pay have to matter? He did a nice job at what he did. And maybe it was just his time to move on to something else. Either way it's his life and his business and choice to do what's best for him and his family. He don't have to explain to anyone why he made his choice.

I was just wondering how someone so young can retire. Unless he will be working full time somewhere else, or came into money all of a sudden. Good luck to him, wish we all could retire so young. So don't get your panties in a bunch.
