An area man charged with criminal damaging and aggravated menacing in connection with a disturbance at a Monroeville home was arrested in Tiffin.

At 11:16 a.m. Friday, deputies received a 9-1-1 call regarding a man threatening an individual at a Peru West Section Line Road, Monroeville address.

Nicholas Renn Hawthorne, 22, of Tiffin, allegedly fled but was caught at about 3 p.m. at his residence by Tiffin police.

Huron County Sheriff's Office chief deputy Ted Patrick said Hawthorne went to the victim's home, turfed their yard and shot paintballs at the home.

"It was a friendship gone bad," Patrick said.
