HURON - The sixth annual Huron Rotary Festival featuring award winning ribs, bluegrass music and local artists, will be held this year Aug. 10 to 12 at the Huron Boat Basin Amphitheatre.
The times are 5 to 10 p.m. Aug. 10 and noon to 10 p.m. Aug. 11. The art festival only will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 12.
There will be five rib vendors/contestants including last years overall winner Mesenburg's Bar B Que, along with Lager Heads from Medina, Hot Sauce Williams from Cleveland, Barney's Barbeque out of Findlay, and the Culinaire Gourmet out of West Lake. Judging will take place at 6 p.m. Aug. 10 and 11, with the celebrity judging taking place at 4 p.m. Aug. 11. Judges will be selected each night from those attendees that enter the judging contest. There will be awards for the People's Choice Best Ribs and Sauce.
The bluegrass music kicks off at 5 p.m. Aug. 10, with Just Bluegrass, Ottawa County Bluegrass and Lexington, Ky. band, Kati Penn Band. On Aug. 11, the music begins at noon with One Way Rider being added to the mix.
There will be more than 40 artists displayed during the three days of the art exhibit portion of the festival. Judging for the best in show will take place on Aug. 11 with the awarding of the prizes at noon Aug. 12. You can win works of art by purchasing raffle tickets prior to or during the three days. You need not be present to win.
