A Sandusky man indicted on two drug felonies received a new trial date Thursday.

Jack A. Abel, 28, will go to trial April 23 in Huron County Common Pleas Court. He is charged with one count each of trafficking in marijuana and trafficking in ecstasy in connection with respective incidents on June 20 and 28, 2011. The Norwalk Police Department investigated the case.

Abel recently hired Reese Wineman to defend him. A Huron County grand jury secretly indicted Abel in late January.

The defendant, who was arraigned earlier, wasn't in court Thursday because of a scheduling conflict with his job, but the court waived his right to appear at the hearing.
