The weather was perfect for the Firelands Area Restorers of Machines (F.A.R.M.) 12th Annual Tractor & Gas Engine Show held over the weekend at the Huron County Fairgrounds.

This year's featured tractors and equipment were made by Ford and the engines by New Holland, and displays of these and plenty of other machinery filled much of the grounds.

Dean Simmons, a member of the Ford Fordson Collectors Association, brought his '49 Ford to the show and talked to visitors about starting an association chapter in Ohio. (Anyone who wants more information can call Steve Parker at (217) 369-4778 or check out the association's Web site at ford-fordson.org).

Besides the displays of tractors and equipment, the show featured horse-drawn wagon rides given by Gene Kurzen and Lady and Mel, his two Belgians, a pie auction with Randy Garner auctioneer, a Christmas in July Light Parade, a horse pull, pony pull and a flea market.

Danny Beck provided the music for square dancing Friday night, country singer Clint Yates performed on Saturday, the Norwalk Train Group presented its HO scale models display, and there was food and many other activities throughout the weekend.

F.A.R.M. is a club for anyone interested in machinery and equipment, and members meet at 7:30 p.m. the third Wednesday of the month in the Fairfield Township Hall in North Fairfield where visitors always are welcome.

The club gives away two $500 scholarships each year and members participate in parades and exhibits. It accepts donations of old machines and equipment, and all donations are tax-deductible.

Club officers are Paul Lortcher, president; Bob Hamer, vice president; Jeff Scheid, secretary; and Ruth Swander, treasurer.
