Two men from West Virginia are facing felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized two ounces of cocaine, worth an estimated $4,500 following a traffic stop in Scioto County.

Troopers stopped a 1997 Dodge Ram pick-up truck, with West Virginia registration, for a vehicle defect violation on US 23, near milepost 5, at 6:48 p.m. Friday. Criminal indicators were observed and a Patrol drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle. A probable cause search revealed two ounces of cocaine located in a tool box in the vehicle’s trunk.

The driver, Mark Trogdon, 52, of Wayne, W.Va., and passenger, Van Lee Smith, 42, of Huntington, W. Va., were incarcerated in the Scioto County Jail, and charged with possession and trafficking in cocaine, both first-degree felonies. If convicted, each could face up to 20 years in prison and up to a $40,000 fine.

Good job Reflector. You could start an all Turnpike State Patrol News Paper. At least it takes the attention off the job the locals are doing fighting the herion epidemic in your town. My question again is why do they waste time bringing in the drug dog? These drug sniffing patrolman already have it under control. Maybe the locals could put a trooper in their back seats. But they would probably wonder why they were stalking the bars instead of trying to defeat the theft and herion problem.

Are you still stuck on the whole "I left the bar and they followed me" deal? Get over it..or go someplace else and get followed so we don't have to hear the same stupid cry baby sh*t story anymore. It won't be the only time your followed. Gonna cry and bit*h if they pull behind you driving down Main Street? God, shut up about it already. If your not doing anything wrong you don't have any worries do you? And if you don't like Norwalk or the COPS or the paper or....leave.

hit the road jack

And d!ckheads like you need to shut the hell up! if its ok to follow you doing this and next week they follow you for something else, thats why we have the socialist society we have is because of @ssholes like YOU.

Scioto County is just 193 miles away, and in current traffic just 3 hours 34 mins what happens down there is directly, mostly,na not even interesting or relevant to Huron county.the Reflector always trying to make a Trooper look good no matter where .

I guess they should feel lucky that it was not laying loose in their tool box or a glass bowl, it may have weighed 50# then.

Glad they got the cocaine off the streets, it may have been heading to your neighbors house. I just wish they would say what their criminal indicators were? Just such a broad term and just to much leeway to allow them to infringe upon your rights. I wonder how many times these criminal indicators are observed and after infringing upon our rights, nothing is found. We only here about the ones that work.
