Bridge work set to begin Monday on Zenobia Road in Wakeman Twp.

Wakeman Township residents soon will have a new bridge, funded as part of financial package worth more than $650,000. Huron County's newest bridge dollars were authorized by the legislature July 1. The Zenobia Road structure will be the first of three bridges to be replaced with financial assistance from the Ohio Public Works Commission. Demolition crews will begin Monday removing the old steel truss bridge just west of Ohio 18. The old bridge spans 113 feet across the Vermilion River and, "is no longer able to accommodate today's wide, heavy farm and commercial traffic," Huron County Engineer Joe Kovach said.
