NEW HAVEN - Authorities believe a New Haven man died early Thursday morning after tripping and falling through an open French door to the ground below.

A co-worker found David Albright, 55, of Klein Road, lying in his backyard under the open door which has no porch underneath it, Huron County Sheriff's Major Greg Englund said.

"It appeared to be an accident," the deputy said.

"The case is not closed. He has no response right now," said a spokeswoman for Huron County Assistant Coroner Dr. Robert Secor.

Albright's co-worker called 9-1-1 before 8 a.m. Thursday when the man didn't come to work. Englund said the worker discovered Albright's corpse after coming to his house.
