An Ohio man fatally shot himself at his home near Powell early today after shooting his girlfriend during a domestic dispute.

Deputies were called to the home of James A. Crego, 42, at 4397 Seldom Seen Road in Liberty Township about 1:35 a.m., Delaware County Sheriff Russ Martin said.

Crego and his girlfriend were arguing when he shot her in the back outside the house as she ran away, Martin said. She ran to a neighboring house to seek help and call authorities.

Deputies and sheriff’s office SWAT members surrounded the house and attempted to contact Crego but received no response, Martin said.

Crego’s body was spotted outside the house several hours later as dawn approached. Deputies had been unable to see his body due to the darkness, Martin said. He died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the sheriff said.

His girlfriend, who was not identified, was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Why does this story make the Reflector?

To take up space that could have been used for a positive, uplifting story that was never written, probably.

Dr. Information

They (the paper) want everyone scared of any and everyone owning a gun.

It is just one of many domestic issues that the police are called for. However, I do like the name of the road.....seldom seen road. How different is that? It makes me wonder just how wide this road is and how far back off of 23 it is.

Right why is this story in here? So they can try to brainwash us all into believing it was the gun that caused this tragedy! NOT THIS GIRL! It could have been a knife or a bat just as easy! But then it wouldn't be in the paper now would it? Hope the girl is alright!
