The local community appears to be taking a big interest in who the Huron County commissioners will appoint to the airport authority in the upcoming weeks.

Presently, two airport board terms have expired, with a third set to run out Jan. 31.

A number of people have submitted applications to the commissioners stating their interest in the seats.

An update about the situation was published Thursday in the Reflector.

tired of stupidy

Did any of the Bader clan apply???????

Estrella Damm

The sweater will abstain for personal reasons.

Whitebuffalo

Hmmmm...this article is on the same night as the article that has Baby Bader crying and threatening to leave. Will the commish sell out or stay true to the airport and not some fume sucking loser.

rogerthat

Hopefully they will do what's best for the county and not give in to the airport supporters' ridiculous ranting. Sounds like Whitebuffalo has a serious case of envy. Show me a bigger local success than Bill Bader.

Whitebuffalo

HA HA HA!! No envy here. I make way more than the seasonal workers or fulltime workers at that "raceway". I just don't seem to see how that little "raceway" is such an important business to Norwalk that the commish should roll over and take one for ole' billy goat Bader.

Windy

It's called the almighty dollar and I wonder how many of them are being passed "under the table".

rogerthat, Bader uses mostly VOLUNTEERS to run his operations. After giving a donation to each of their charitable organizations, he gets to write it off, too. So, not only does he get FREE HELP, he gets the money back from the government, too! Yup, the only people who are more successful than Bader may be the crooked politicians!

JACKEL

Thanks to your Commie Buddy Obozo they can't do much of thst anymore !

propman

Roger, What do you use to determine a successful business?
The number of drunk people leaving it's operations a few times a year or, the number of employees making a good wage all year long?

me arse

rogerthat - I'll give you an example of a bigger local success. How about Billy's dad??? He's the one who built the raceway, not Billy. There are several big success stories that do their business here, and you're pretty ignorant if you don't recognize any of them.

Hey propman, is your little plane in the taxpayer owned hangar? How much do you pay monthly for the space? Do you have insurance? How long have you and your select friends been getting the great big space and fuel discounts off the backs of the taxpayer?

Since this is a taxpayer owned facility, why is it you and your friends are so afraid of a revenue producing private business like Summit? Why should 60 thousand residents/taxpayers assume liability for "your" airport? Why should the wants of you and your buddies exceed the needs of Huron County's residents/taxpayers? Just who do you think you are?

propman

It is the return of Ralph Wiggum!
Same rhetoric, lies and personal attacks as before.
Personally, welcome back! I've missed having you to make my points clearer to the other readers.

methodman

Nice defense poopman. Park ur plane in willart, or waketucky.

Ralph Wiggum

Got a phone call from a friend to check the forums. That's not me poopman. I haven't checked this site in a month or more. My job has kept me busy. It's hard work busting my butt to pay the taxes you and the airport cronies expect to be breast fed with consistently.

propman

Well I got the troll out from under his bridge,
More likely you have been nursing your wounds from the third billy goat.
I do not have a plane to keep at any airport and Ralph what taxes have you been working SO HARD TO PAY that would go to the airport?
The airport has had no tax money in three years.
Could those taxes been unpaid over several years?

Windy

Propman, they cannot come up with any substantial evidence to support their position, so they have to revert to name calling. This reminds me of Billy's immature temper tantrums.

methodman

Windy, you blow. hahahaha My position is that i don't give a shit. Get rid of both of 'em for all I care. Hobbies.

JACKEL

Windy,I will have to give you credit for one thing, you are using the right handle.Where have you ever seen BIlly have a temper tantrum? That picture is him kicking off a Big Nite Under Fire.If you would have watched the last meeting with him and the Airport,he was addressing them like any Business Man would. Now I don't know what your big problem with the track is, but it is obvious you are not a Business Man.Do you fly and our concerned about your aircraft,if so,say so.Those part time jobs are a lot of youngsters first jobs ever, and many have come back year after year. There are people that have worked for 25 to 30 years.Ask the Lions Club what the track has done for them and Their Benevolence.

Windy

Jackel - Your handle is spelled wrong unless you are from Jackel Motorsports and have a vested interest in Summit. Billy has a temper tantrum every time he states that if he doesn't get the airport for his expansion, he's moving away. Whaaa!

FYI - I have no airplane. I care about the 101+ businesses that have been DOCUMENTED to benefit from the airport right where it is. One of those businesses is SUMMIT! Drivers, owners, and fans fly in for the racetrack.

Obviously, YOU are not a businessman. You would rather back ONE SEASONAL business over the FIVE MAJOR FULL-TIME businesses IN NORWALK that employ a total of 4200+ workers compared to a group of SEASONAL, PART-TIME employees. There are other great places for youngsters to get their first job.

Bader has other options for expansion besides the airport. His appearance at the auction of the Mansfield track this week was only for show. His excuses for not outbidding the other company are lame. He will have to spend MUCH MORE than $775,000 to convert the airport for his expansion plans.

kURTje

Hey oldsters....your economy is over. The taxpayers can't support the few.

Windy

Kurt, the airport has been self-sufficient for over two years now. It's time for you to invent a new lame argument.

Windy

Oops, duplicate post. Darn touchpad.

kURTje

Thanks old man. The people pay for it. As the future goes fwd, your self interest will wane. Time is on our side. The majority will eventually get what they need. (hint these threads motivate people to make their zone a better place)

Windy

If YOU are representing the "majority", heaven help us all!

brutalyhonest

If the airport is self sufficient...why is it such a problem for the commissioners? Is it because they are being bullied by the race track owner? And...if the Airport is self sufficient...maybe the commissioners can take the money saved and buy the Sheriff's office some new cruisers..Money WELL spent..And NO...I'm not in law enforcement..I am a business owner protected by them..

Most Wanted

Bottom line, the race track brings in more business (income) to OTHER local business' throughout the summer and fall because of it being an attraction than the airport does. Mr. Bader may not provide the full time jobs you guys want to see, but his business provides income to alot of other local business' throughout the year. I do not see anyone flying in to get a hotel room for the hell of it....but they do come to get hotel rooms for Mr. Baders events. If he left it would effect alot of local business' yearly revenues.

Windy

Wanted - Bottom line, you are "assuming". And you know what they about when one assumes . . . .

There have been people who have been caught in weather and land at Norwalk just to stay in a hotel room. If they had to go to another airport, they might not have made it there alive. You can find this information on here.

Re-post:
According to Summit's OWN website, their "official" places to stay are Great Wolf Lodge and Sawmill Creek. The last time I checked, NEITHER of these places is in HURON County. Statistically, where do travelers tend to dine and refuel? Near their LODGING! And where does Summit encourage its visitors to lodge? ERIE county!

Most Wanted

Summit's OWN website of "official" everything is PAID advertisements....Windy, so who's blowing smoke? By the way, most of those PAID advertisements are from other cities. Why would NORWALK need to advertise their hotels on this particular website as obviously they would be first to fill up?

Windy

Wanted - REALLY? I drive by Kalahari and Great Wolf Lodge on big race weekends and I see their parking lots packed full of race trailers. Maybe the Norwalk hotels should start advertising?

Most Wanted

Take the time to drive by the Norwalk hotels next time Summit has an event and see that they are also full, as well as Bob Evans, Berry's and other local grocer's, fast food places, gas stations and other local places are overly busy as well and quit "assuming" only Kalahari and Great Wolf get all the business because they pay to advertise as you drive to Erie County to spend your money.

brutalyhonest

True...the track brings more income to SOME local business's..But it's only a select few that benefit..ie: fast food restrants, hotels, and Walmart...maybe the liquor store...but for the rest....not so much.
