HURON - State troopers suspect alcohol was a factor in a motorcycle accident involving a Wakeman motorist Monday night on U.S. 6 east of the Cedar Point Chausee.

Alan Hoyt, 53, of 6060 U.S. 20, told a trooper he had one beer before the 10:40 p.m. crash, a Sandusky post dispatcher said. Hoyt was heading east when he crossed the center line, went off the north side of the road, where his 1978 Harley-Davidson bike hit a road sign and rolled into a ditch.

Huron EMS transported him to Firelands Regional Medical Center with minor injuries and was treated and released from the emergency room. The dispatcher said troopers don't know if Hoyt was wearing a helmet.
