BREAKING NEWS - Green Wave rolls past Trojans

COLUMBUS - Newark Catholic sent 16 batters to the plate and scored nine runs in the second inning Thursday afternoon en route to a 13-0 win over South Central in the Division IV state baseball semifinals. The game, called after five innings on the 10-run rule, was held at Cooper Stadium in Columbus, home of the Class AAA Columbus Clippers.

COLUMBUS — Newark Catholic sent 16 batters to the plate and scored nine runs in the second inning Thursday afternoon en route to a 13-0 win over South Central in the Division IV state baseball semifinals.

The game, called after five innings on the 10-run rule, was held at Cooper Stadium in Columbus, home of the Class AAA Columbus Clippers.

Ian Franks had South Central’s lone hit.

The Green Wave advance to Saturday’s 1 title game against the winner of today’s second semifinal game between Fremont St. Joe and Fort Loramie.

South Central ends the season with a 22-8 record. It was the third time in school history the Trojans advanced to the state tournament.
