Wakeman Memorial Day plans

WAKEMAN The Wakeman community Memorial Day celebration will take place at 7 a.m. May 28 at the corner of Abbott and River streets. Parade participants will include the Boy Scout 242 and Cub Packs 238 and 246 and Girl Scout and Brownie troops, as well as the Western Reserve High School Band.

WAKEMAN The Wakeman community Memorial Day celebration will take place at 7 a.m. May 28 at the corner of Abbott and River streets.

Parade participants will include the Boy Scout 242 and Cub Packs 238 and 246 and Girl Scout and Brownie troops, as well as the Western Reserve High School Band.

The featured speaker will be Command Sgt. Major Tim Grys, a 1981 graduate of Western Reserve School. He first entered Ohio Army National Guard in January 1983. With more than 24 years of service, he has been deployed to Panama, Honduras, Germany, Jamaica, South Korea and Iraq. He is presently assigned to Fort Ohio, headquartered in Port Clinton.

Grys is responsible for the Camp Perry Training site in Port Clinton, The Ravenna Training and Logistic Site in Ravenna, Camp Sherman and Tarlton Training site. He is presently enrolled in the Army Sergeant Major Academy in Fort Bliss, Texas. He is also working toward a bachelors degree from Vincennes University in Indiana.

After the service there will be a march to Legion Hall for pancake and sausage breakfast. Breakfast will be served from 8 to 9:15 a.m.

Attica Community Garden Club

ATTICA The Attica Community Garden Club will be celebrating its 75th anniversary at 7 p.m., Thursday, June 14 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Attica. The featured arranger will be Mary Lee Minor from Bucyrus. There will also be a display of the history of the club, refreshments and door prizes.
