A teenage driver was killed and three other people were seriously injured in a head-on collision late Sunday in Medina County, the Montville Township Police said.
Authorities responded to the crash at 10:22 p.m. on River Styx Road south of Turnberry Drive.
Officers arriving at the scene found four victims with serious injuries, including three trapped within the wreckage.
A preliminary investigation found that a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Jeremy Goodrich, 26, of Rittman, was traveling south on River Styx Road when it traveled left of center and struck a northbound Plymouth Acclaim.
The driver of the Plymouth, Revere High School student Katherine Babak, 16, of Bath Township, died at the scene.
Her passengers, Valerie Snyder, a 15-year-old female from Cuyahoga Falls, and Earlena Couch, a 16-year-old female from Montville Township, suffered severe injuries.
Goodrich also suffered serious injuries.
The three were initially transported to Medina Hospital and then taken by medical helicopter to Cleveland MetroHealth Medical Center.
Police said the road was closed for four hours while crews worked to free the victims and investigated. The crash remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed.
Other authorities assisting at the scene included the Medina and Sharon Township fire departments, the Life Support Team and the Medina Police.
