Milan resident Kurt Michaelis will soon be immortalized in the Youngstown State Hall of Fame.

The 1999 Holgate High School graduate will be inducted during the half-time of the Penguins' football game against South Dakota. Michaelis majored in exercise physiology and now works as a pharmaceutical sales representative.

At Holgate High School, Michaelis was four-time all Ohio in cross country and three time all Ohio in Track and Field. In 1997, he was the Division III mile state champion. He also set the state record in the 800-meter dash in 1997. The father of three still holds two records at Holgate for the 800 meter at 1:54.2 and 1600 meter at 4:15.8.

At YSU, he was a three-time Horizon League champion in the steeplechase.
