The Huron County Sheriff's Office is investigating a rape complaint by a 16-year-old girl.

"It came in through a counseling center. It initially came to Norwalk," Detective Kayla Zander said.

After the Norwalk Police Department determined the suspected rape happened on South New State Road, Willard, they turned the case over to the sheriff's office Friday afternoon.

"The victim is 16 now. The victim is female. It happened when she was 15," Zander said.

When the incident reportedly happened, the girl didn't go to the hospital.

"She reported it to her counselor," Zander said.

The suspect is a 17-year-old boy.

"We haven't interviewed the suspect yet. We're in the middle of interviewing the victim," Zander said.

The case remains under investigation.
