Juvenile court report: Delinquency cases down

Huron County Juvenile Court has seen a reduction in deliquency complaints.

"Complaints are down and adjudications are down," Judge Timothy Cardwell said.

There were 204 delinquency complaints filed in 2013 compared to 242 the previous year; that's a difference of 16 percent.

"We only had 12 (felony adjudications) in 2013, which is very low. It has to be the lowest in 10 years," Cardwell said.

While there's been a decrease in local delinquency cases, there has been a rise in abused, neglected and dependent (DNA) cases.

There were 89 DNA complaints in 2013 compared to 74 filed in 2012, according to the annual report.
