A rural Wakeman driver had minor injuries after a two-vehicle accident Saturday morning at the intersection of Ohio 18 and Hartland Center Road.

North Central EMS transported Stephanie Bukowski, 19, of 1628 Butler Road, to Fisher-Titus Medical Center.

"I'm pretty sure she was treated and released," said Huron County Sheriff's Sgt. Steve Shupp, who investigated the crash. "She was westbound on (Ohio) 18."

The other driver, Joshua A. Talbott, 28, of Huron, was charged with failure to yield at an intersection.

"He was checked out, but refused treatment," Shupp said.

"He stopped at the intersection, but did not see her," the deputy said, referring to Hartland Center Road. "He pulled into her lane of travel."

The sheriff's office received a call about the collision at 8:18 a.m.

Bukowski was driving a 1996 Jeep Cherokee, which sustained significant damage to the front and driver's side.

"More than likely the Jeep was totaled," Shupp said.

After being sideswiped, Bukowski "lost control a little" and crossed the center line twice, the deputy said. The Jeep stopped in a ditch a few hundred feet west of the intersection.

The 2008 Ford F-150 driven by Talbot had damage to the engine area and front end.

"It probably can be repaired," Shupp said. "The truck didn't go far from the impact point."

The deputy said both drivers were wearing their seat belts and noted drugs and alcohol aren't considered factors.

"Neither one had any passengers," Shupp said.

North Central, Citizens Ambulance and the Townsend Township Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.
