Huron County veterans Service Officer Dick Carlisle said he agrees with testimony from the undersecretary of the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs: The department's claims system is broken and cannot be fixed.
"There has to be another system devised into this electronic age," Carlisle said.
The processing of veterans' claims is entirely paper-based, resulting in delays, Carlisle said. He added through his office alone, he has major claims "languishing somewhere" and therefore cannot be attended to.
