Prosecutors have filed a charge against a Norwalk man who is accused of fleeing the scene of an injury crash.

Hillario Lopez, 29, of 107 E. Main St., Apt. 6, is charged with failure to stop after an accident. If convicted of the first-degree misdemeanor, he faces up to six months in jail.

The state Highway Patrol's Norwalk post reported Lopez hadn't contacted law enforcement as of Monday about a Jan. 20 crash. The Wakeman Township accident happened at 6:09 p.m.

Citizens Ambulance transported Lopez's passenger, Joseph L. Lopez, 18, of 230 Whittlesey Ave., Lot 63, to Fisher-Titus Medical Center with minor injuries.

Hillario Lopez was westbound on Ohio 303 before the crash. Trooper John Stevens, in his report, said the driver lost control, went off the right side and a hit a mailbox and group of rocks.

The 1996 Nissan Sentra went airborne, landed and hit another group of rocks, Stevens wrote in his report.

Whites Automotive Services towed the car from the crash site with disabling damage.
